Thanks for the replies everyone, I get it, no, this is not a hunting rifle, it's a bench rest/yote rifle. Also, I'm not much into modifying and I like wood. One of the main reasons I want this rifle. There are a considerable number of varmint heavy barrels out there but the majority are synthetic. Not that I have anything against synthetic, I prefer the warmth and feel of wood. My 700 30.06 is an sps wood tec, love the rifle and a good weight for field work, but I also have a marlin 444, now that rifle is just the cats ass. I want an in between caliber that, number one doesn't cost a fortune to shoot, my marlin is 4 bucks a trigger pull, also that won't waste 180 grain rounds on a yote or target but keeps me in practice. I also have a cz 457 american, great rifle and cheap to keep the skills up but without any recoil it gets boring.
