I took my Ruger Mark III apart to clean it as per the online Ruger video.

ht*tp://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/N-RugerTV-TT-MarkIIIReassembly.html

For reassembly it is indicated that 'the firing pin stop pin must be in place....'

I have double checked mine before reassembly and it appears to be missing as I can see daylight through the hole in the bolt. I'm guessing it should be a solid pin???? Or is it a hollow roll pin?

I have thoroughly searched the area around where I was working and can't find any kind of rogue pin.

I did look at when I took it apart and it appeared to be in place (solid) but now I'm wondering if it was just a piece of fouling?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I have the same pistol. You need the missing piece so that you don't break the firing pin when you dry fire it, which you must do when cleaning.

Good luck finding it.

Glad it worked out for you. I am working my way through disassembly just like you, for cleaning, and then for installation of a new sear and trigger. I'm doing it in stages: field cleaning, then once that's mastered; removal and installation of some components; then the whole shebang. One thing I learned - follow the directions to the letter! If it says tip it up, then tip it up.
