Ruger Mark III Scope Mount?

Hi all. Happy New Year!

I am purchasing a Ruger Mark III from a CGN user and it apparently does not come with a scope mount. I want to mount a red dot on it.

Does the Mark III pistol use the same rail as the 10/22?

I looked it up and some of the one's I saw for the Mark III are notched out on the side. Not sure if that is necessary or not.

the ruger mark 3 only has three holes to mount it to the gun, the 10/22 has four and i dont think they are interchangeable.
 
No, they are not interchangeable, however it should be easy to find one as few people mount scopes on their pistols. Put a WTB ad in the EE and i'm quite sure someone will offer to sell you one.
 
You can also buy after market rails for the MKIII. I use a Volquartsen on mine. The factory Ruger rail extends out over the barrel, which I don't like. The VQ doesn't. I cut a bit off the back end of the rail so I could leave the rear sight in place.

Where did you buy your rail?

I'm looking for something similar MKI or MKII mounts and hoping to find a Canadian retailer that carries them.

I got it from Rimfire Sports, which unfortunately doesn't ship to Canada anymore. The selection of VQ parts carried by Canadian dealers seems pretty spotty, but somebody might carry it. You could also try Brownells.
