Ruger Mini 14 Target Proper Cleaning Question

Hey guys,

Still somewhat new to rifles and have a quick question. I clean out my barrel after a shoot no problem, but in order to clean my action effectively it basically requires me to remove the scope. Is this normal? If so, how often should the action be cleaned because it is nice to have the scope zeroed so I do not have to rezero it every time.

Looking for some insight.

Thanks,

Don't see why you should have to remove the scope.......
Never handled a Target model, but I don't think the action is any different?

You are correct, it is hard to clean Mini 14 target with scope. For my self, I clean the barrel, then use a clean rod with patch to clean the action (spray the action with gun cleaner first), pull the bolt back and remove the mag. Since almost all the .223 ammos are non-corrosive, there is not much to worry about.
