Does the mini 30 feed reliable with the corrosive 7.62 that we have surplus here in Canada? Does the ruger suffer from light primer strikes due to the hard primers? Also has anyone heard of the accu rod which stiffens up the barrel for better accuracy?

You can buy a heavier spring to hit those primers harder.

As far as feeding issues, I can't imagine why that would be.

I have been contemplating this myself for some time, but for the money a CZ 858 is a hell of a gun.

I regret selling mine.

My friend has a Mini-30 that he always brings out to the range. He feeds it nothing but the cheap surplus stuff. Several thousand rounds later (and some good cleaning!) and it's still ticking away. Only a few light strike failure to fires

I've put at least 2000 rounds of corrosive surplus through mine and have never had a feeding problem. I was getting alot of light primer strikes so I put in a heavier hammer spring and that fixed the problem. The spring was from Wolff Gunsprings, ht tp://www.gunsprings.com/

If a guy were to buy a stainless mini-30......Just how much of the firearm is stainless??

Gas system?

I guess I'm asking how diligent one has to be with cleaning after using corrosive ammo?

Everything is stainless except for the stock. Every time I shoot mine I clean it right away when I get home. I think some people pour hot water down the barrel to neutralize the corosive salts. There are lots of threads about cleaning SKS's after using corrosive ammo, just do a search. I have had very minor amounts of rust accumulate on mine but I think it was from humidity.
