Hey guys I just picked up my first hand gun a few days ago. It's just a older ruger mark 2, but the price was right. I just had a few questions, what kind of ammo runs well in them or does it really mater ? Also is there any place in Canada you can get parts for them extra mags, grips that kind of thing ?

I have a MK II Target and while I found CCI standard to be quite accurate, so far I have never had any problems with any brand of ammo.

The cheap Blazer bulk packs I picked up shoot more than good enough for me.

For parts try Location Snapshots at 450-427-0052. I believe they are in the Montreal area somewhere. Have only dealt with them by phone on parts in stock. Good service.

Good call.

The MK-512 was my first handgun. It was the right choice.

Federal, CCI, and Remington all work well. Most Winchester products - including the T22 and the Thunderbolt - won't cycle my MKII, and PMC Zappers jammed memorably. (YMMV.) CCI Pistol Match (which is standard velocity), like CB caps, won't cycle the bolt.

Federal Hi-Power was the best and the most accurate, by far. YMMV.

Cabelas has magazines for the MKII priced at C$27.99

It remains completely stock, with no modifications whatsoever.* I'm hoping that, one day, VZ Grips will offer double-diamond G10 panels for the MKII. Until then, the factory ones will do.

*A side benefit of this is Ruger will honour a lifetime warranty if the Ruger firearm is unmodified. Service is provided by Location Snap Shot.
