I have big hands, large frame Glock, Model 21 fits me perfectly and I shoot the Walther P22 without a problem. It's a very nice little pistol, maintain it, do not fire hyper-velocity rounds through it and you will be fine with it.

Plus, you get all the cool of a Bond looking gun minus all the expense and recoil of a larger calibre. I'm all for the P22.

I've had both the Ruger and Buckmark, Buckmark was considerably better IMO and far easier to stip and clean. The Walther feels good in hand but from what I've gathered has had more then it's share of problems.

If you don't mind spending a little more the Hammerli is awesome.

Granted, it's kinda expensive, but what about a Kimber Rimfire 1911. You can buy a conversion kit to make it into a .45 ACP when you are ready to move beyond the .22. This way, you don't NEED to buy a second pistol, although I'm sure you will still WANT to :D.

Now, I have never shot one of these, so I don't know how they perform, but I do like the idea of the conversion kit.

I would get the Ruger but the one thing I do not like about mine is loading the clips! You can get some kind of autoloader I think!
I have shot the Mosquito and P22 and they are both great but IMO the Ruger was the best ! I have small hands and it fits me just fine!! Good luck!

I also like the idea of conversion kits...I'm sure I'll get there eventually! Actually, one of my mates was just telling me about a Kel-Tec that uses the same mag/ammo for both the pistol and rifle. Dunno the details, but definitely something I'll be looking into.

Research this a little more if you're thinking about going this route. I'm pretty sure that the rimfire Kimbers cannot be converted up to centrefire....you'd have to buy a centrefire 1911 and then buy the Kimber rimfire conversion kit.

Yeah, after I posted, I thought to myself I might have got it ass backwards. Still like the conversion idea though.

I too am looking into getting my first handgun, which will likely be a .22. I got to shoot a p22 ( with 3.4'' barrel) in the states this summer, and I found it to be a reliable, accurate pistol. I have faily large hands but it seemed to fit alright. I also got a chance to shoot a Ruger 22/45 Mk.3 this summer and I also liked it. I have also been looking at the Sig Mosquito aswell, but havent had a chance to shoot one. I would like to spend 400 absolute max. I would go new or used, but preferrably new.
