Many years ago I had a ruger Mk I, and fed it a steady diet of standard velocity ammo. It worked flawlessly. No longer have it, but thinking about getting a mk III. Do they still work with standard velocity ammo?

Yes, they run fine on any .22 ammo. The MKIII pistols have a so-called safety feature that prevents the trigger from being pulled without the magazine in place. This makes stripping and reassembling more of a chore than it is on MK IIs and MKIs. The little latch can be replaced by a MKII trigger bushing in a few minutes if you are confident enough to take the trigger assembly apart. You will like the bolt hold-open feature after the last shot.

My old mk I had a great trigger, does the extra hardware for the magazine disconnect affect trigger pull, weight, travel, etc?
