Howdy,

I’ve been slowly picking away at my Ruger MK IV Hunter and have been changing out parts with Volquartsen parts. So far I’ve done a Volquartsen accurizing kit and a new grip. Getting there slowly. When I installed the new grip, I saw that I was supposed to replace the magazine release, so I tried to change it out as well (part 21132306 is what the dealer sold me). I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this mag release to work and suspect it’s not the right part. The Volquartsen Extended Magazine release is the exact same size as the magazine release in my Mark IV Hunter – which isn’t nearly long enough to come through the grip.

Is there a different magazine release that I should have? I tried to replace the factory Hunter mag release with the Volquartsen one, and it’s not a direct replacement. I also wondered if the Volquartsen release was supposed to sit inside the grip (instead of the gun) and push on the factory extended release, but I can’t get it to stay in the grip.

Help?

Reading their website, you need to replace the factory Hunter mag release with the one Volquartsen sells;

Not sure if you already got that or if it was a different one your dealer sold you.

HUGE shout out to Sylvestre Sporting Goods who came through with the answer. I'm missing a part. I did order the Volquartsen extended mag release, but it turns out that there's a stopper / cap that I'm missing. This little cap sits inside the new grip and the extended mag release sits inside of that. That's why I couldn't figure out how to get the mag release to stay in the grip -- this little guy keeps it from coming out. Sylvestre Sporting Goods is sending me a new one, so I'm giving a 10/10 for customer service. Incredible folks.
