Did a quick look around for this tip on the forum and didn't find anything so I thought I'd post it for future reference.

I was recently stripping down my Mk IV target .22 for cleaning. When I removed the grips I discovered that the molded screw barrels / holes in the grips had started breaking away from the grip body. These are the stock plastic grips. The grips are made from ABS, determined by a small rub on the inside with an Acetone dampened rag. If the plastic slightly melts its probably ABS.

Anyway, I had on hand some ABS repair slurry from another project and a quick dab of the slurry around the barrel, plus some extra slurry to add additional support and the grip was good to go.

The ABS slurry is simply some black ABS pipe scraps dissolved in Acetone. Mix it up to the desired thickness in a 'food grade' plastic container that you can close up tightly (like the plastic jar from peanut butter). It may take a while to fully dissolve the ABS so you will need to leave it sit overnight. So long as the lid is tight, it keeps for months. If it starts thickening up too much, just add some more Acetone, mix and let it sit until needed.
