Ruger Mk lll, jamming

I am owner of the MK III Hunter

1- you must make a full disassemble clean up after a shooting range day

2- I've tried Lapua rounds and CCI standard/high velocity ......results = jams here and there.....

3- I now shoot my MK with Blazer rounds .......results = no more jams and 500 rounds for 26$ :eek:) same results for my Colt 1911 22lr (Lapua and CCI = jams ...... Blazer = 0 jams)

All Blazer rounds for my others handgun just works some much better than any other brand ammo, my 9mm Beretta PX4 Storm and 92fs ....well so far, 900+ rounds in both gun with 0 jams ......ouep 0 jams....

Blazer rounds is now my #1 buy now .....

try other ammo than the one you've tried....
 
Mine eats all the ammo I feed it, cheap bulk bricks or better ammo, everything runs through mine. HOWEVER I know a guy that has a similar gun (22/45) and his only runs well with Blazers (I think thats what it was he uses). I got him a Volquartsen extractor to see if it improves his gun but he is afraid to take it apart and install it so I cant even tell you if that helped for him or not.
 
Mine runs bulk Federal,very seldom an issue.I clean every time (barrel and chamber area) and strip down for a more through cleaning every 1000 rnds.I did find a big difference in function after I started applying a very light coat of the Mil-Comm TW25 Grease in and around the action..
 
I had the same problem with my MK III Target right from brand new. I bought the same extractor as rubberdown bought for his buddy. I went on the computer and read and looked at the pictures of how to put it in and did it and have not had any issues since. Change your extractor and you will be good to go, They are not expensive and they are not that hard to put in.

I have a MarkIII SS. It eats any and all ammo without fail. If it is clean, it should shoot. Sometimes if you over-oil any gun, it will clog up with gunk. Do a thorough, completely stripped down, cleaning & only lightly oil for indoor range. If you are shooting outside in winter, skip the oil.
 
There is no point in posting this if you don't say you tried different mags. Wasting people's time.

A Ruger 22 pistol should work without ever cleaning it. Disassembly is rarely necessary.

Absolutely. I can't even remember the last time I cleaned mine and it still operates flawlessly. If you have a Ruger .22 that needs cleaning after every outing in order to function, take it back and get a refund, there's something wrong with it.

I use Winchester 555 in mine, no issues at all.

Thanks for the replies, most of them anyways. Sorry if I wasted some peoples times as I only have the two mags that came with the gun. The gun is taken apart after I shoot it and cleaned and lubed. I will try some different ammo, Blazer, maybe borrow someones mag and try it, and if that fails look into a new extractor. Thanks for the help. Cheers Roscoe
 
I disassemble my MKIII each time like all my other guns because I wanted to, and it keeps ALL my guns like brand new, this the way to do it, I even have a log book for each my guns.....

I do not have any problems and there is nothing wrong with my MKIII, yes I can shoot one year with it without any cleanning or disassemble, however ...doing this and compare the gun with mine after one year.....well I will be ahead with my gun looking still brand new inside on every parts !!!!

This is the choice I've made, this my gun, my gun shoots 700-1000 rounds each time I go to the shooting range, still in excellente condition.

My recommandations were on what is the best to do with your gun, you make the choice.
 
I had similar issues with one as well. Marked all my mags so I could see if a particular one was causing the problem. Returned to warranty still doing the same. Tried CCI, Winchester, Remington and Federal ammo. All doing the same thing. Fail to extract, double feed, stovepipes. Pistol is now sold, think I see a single ten in the future.
 
Like I previously said, Blazers rounds works amazingly great in my MKIII, Lapua and CCI not good with it (I am not saying that those are not good rounds, but not in simbiose with my MKIII)
 
Wow, some of you guys aren't looking after your guns... not cleaning after shooting the dirtiest cartridge around. I shot one of these jamomatics for my club safety course and I thought it was the worst P.O.S I've ever shot. Horrible ergonomics and couldn't get it to run properly with any type of ammo. I see that some results vary with these.

People seem to highly recommend these for 22 pistols, but I say to avoid at all costs.
