Good Afternoon Folks

I just picked up a little ruger mk1 with a bull barrel installed. This thing shoots excellent but I have a couple of questions.

First, it does not hold the slide back after the last round, is this normal?
second, both Mag are only 9 round, is this standard or is there 10 round mags available?

Thank you for all your help and advice

This is how it was designed.

The MKII added an external slide stop and a ten-round magazine.

The MKI and MKII magazines do not interchange.

In case you want more magazines, here are the respective Brownells stock numbers:

780-001-216
Magazine, 9-Round, BS, fits MK I

780-002-210
Magazine, 10-Round, BS, fits MK II

The MK1 doesn't have a last shot hold back, but for range work, just pull back the slide and engage the safety. It will hold it locked back.

To make the MK2 mag work in the MK1 ,you disassemble the mag and then reassemble with the mag thumbpiece on the other side of the mag. It worked for me.
