Ruger MK3 takedown

New Ruger MK3, can get it apart, lubed, put back together, now the slide won't open, will slide back maybe 1/2" only. What have I done wrong ? Watched several videos on take down, don't see anything about slide not opening afterward.

Help !! lol
 
tried it again.... dont know what I'm getting wrong.... will take it to store tomorrow and see if they know what step I'm doing wrong
 
Go to ruger website. They have videos on dissassembly/reassembly of the MKIII. Your issue is common. A few trys and you'll get the bar that causes the problem in the right place. I've had the same issue.....takes a few trys to get it right. Be patient.
 
Ok, I will go check the site, had it apart 3 times, lubed her up, it comes apart and goes back together alright now, getting good with that, something with that bolt, something not in right place ???, will go check it out thx !
 
Got it ! the "no name" videos dont explain how important the angle of gun is during reassembly and to insert a mag while closing the main spring housing. Once following instructions properly we are all good. He says right in the video "this is the part that most of you have a problem with".....lol

Once you catch on to the hammer strut needing to dangle on the outside of the pin on the grip frame and go into the mainspring housing, it's peanuts. The rest is easy
