Ruger MKII magazines?

Ruger MKIII magazines will work in your MKII (but not vice versa) and are every bit as good. Not sure who you checked out, but anyone that sells the MKIII pistols should have MKIII magazines available to order, if not immediately in stock. Be careful not to buy the MKIII-22/45 magazines as they have a very different base-plate and will not fit into the MKIII/II standard pistols.

I tried the MKIII mags and they do fit... but the lip on the side used with the mkiii mag release catches on the way out of my mkii causing some jimmying being required to fully remove it.

While I am sure it shoots fine... thats a bit of an issue for me.

I am looking for a couple mags myself.
Cabela's has them on back order.
All the local shops are out and no one seems to know when they will be back in stock.

I have some Ruger magazines. I'm not sure whether Mk.I or Mk.II as I don't have a pistol to try them in. So I suppose I might as well sell them when I figure out which they are for...

Four of them have a red Ruger emblem on the bottom of the baseplate, and the button on the side that moves with the platform has concentric circles on it.

The other one has a smaller, smooth surfaced button, and the Ruger emblem on the bottom of the baseplate is black.

Can you identify them from that?

Fully load them. Ruger Standard and MKI magazines only held nine rounds IIRC. If the magazine holds ten it is appropriate for any Standard/MKI/MKII Pistol.

Thanks, blastattack. They hold ten. But apart from the cosmetic differences I detailed above, I now notice the group of four have a protusion punhed out of the sheet metal on the forward edge of the right side, about two inches below the top. The other one doesn't have anything like this. Could this be do with a mag release catch on the Mk.III pistol that Paul_1982 mentioned in post #3? Perhaps I have four Mk.III and a Mk.II?

Just found 2 MK II mags made by Mec-Gar at Northern Republic Magazine... anyone know if these mags are any good? I bought them, with the hopes they will be good!

Yeah...Mec-Gar mags work just fine in my MKII...I have four of them. MarStar regularly carries Mec-Gar mags, but don't have any for the Ruger right now. ProLine Shooters in Calgary also carry a small selection of them...you could give them a call and see if any more Rugers are in the works. Good luck!

I have a Mec-Gar for my Browning Hi-Power. It works just as it should and looks and feels better made than the factory Browning magazines. I wouldn't hesitate to try a Mec-Gar magazine for any gun.

Pictures are worth 1000 words. Might be interested if they are MKI or MKII mags.
