Wonder if it's in the running for replacing the Canadian Rangers Lee Enfields? I heard rumours that the Ruger M77 was being considered. This one isn't really my taste, but it looks like it could fill the bill, if they added a mag charging bridge.

Favourable results from Jeff Quinn @Gunblast and on the Ruger forum so far.
Having been through 2 Frontiers and a Steyr Scout I'm inclined to give this one a try. Agreed about the aesthetics but this one is all about function. I do like the adjustable stock/spacer system and the M77 action. Not fussy about the flash suppressor though and would add a break or thread protector. Single stack 5 shot clip appears to be available also.

I love my Marlin SBL and plan to place the Ruger Scout in my safe right beside it!

The bird cage has to go and the rail won't be so distinct once you have an extended eye relief scope on it. The 10 round box might interfere with some shooting positions, a 5 rounder might be the better choice for some situations.

7 lb plus an optic and ammo is too heavy for the Scout Rifle concept.
