Hey Gang...

Two part question for you Ruger guys out there…

I recently grabbed a beautiful new model Blackhawk in 357 magnum. It is a 1983 production date gun.

I would like to be able to shoot 9 mm out of it, and was wondering if the older pistols are in anyway different than the Blackhawk convertibles. More specifically, would I have any problems putting one of the 9 mm cylinders into this gun.

And the next part of the question is...If this is possible, and I can use such a cylinder in my gun, does anybody know who has them available for purchase.

Cylinders need to be fitted to the gun. I have two 357’s, one with a 9m/m cylinder which was factory. The cylinder is to tight for my second 357. On my buddy’s 357 the 9 cylinder is a sloppy fit.
Cost of buying a cylinder and fitting to your would likely be more than buying a factory fitted gun. Unless you get lucky and it fits. Normally the guns only sell for 100 to 150 more with a nine cylinder for a used gun.
 
Thanks for the info! I figured that there would be something a little bit different about them… Otherwise the cylinders would be readily available for sale. I will just stick to shooting 38 and 357 through the revolver… And 9mm through my pistols.
