I seem to recall somone on this board (boomer...maybe?) talking about having a custom quarter rib built for a ruger no.1 to accomodate a long eye relief scope. I am seriously considering this for my No.1 in 45-70. Does anybody have any pictures or specs I could have a look at? Thanks a bunch.

Yes, I had a custom quarter rib built for my #1, but it wasn't for a scout scope - rather a Leupold 1.5-5X. I wanted the ocular even with the forward edge of the falling block. Mounted in this fashion, the scope had enough eye relief at the low to mid power settings, but I couldn't dial up to 4X. The advantages were that nothing was in the way of the loading port, and I couldn't get tagged by the scope (.416 Rigby).

Sorry I don't have a picture of it. The rib followed the lines of a factory Ruger rib, but it was inletted for Talley QD rings, forward of the mounting positions of the original.
