Ruger No1 RSI .270 Win - 20" Barrel too Short?

sounds insignificant.
I thought the standard was a 24" barrel.
with a loss of say 50 to 80 fps / inch of barrel lost
Therefore four inches comes out to 200 - 320 fps below the average or target of 3000 fps muzzle velocity.
Just curious if anyone here has worked up loads to compensate and not lose a nice group pattern.

I was wondering about this too, as I am considering a Ruger M77RL Ultralight in .270 or 30-06. The 20" barrel would be easier for handling than my current Win M70 with a 24" tube, but now it seems the velocity loss won't be that bad. What about 150gr bullets, anyone have any experience?
Funny, I'm kinda biased against the RSI in 270 b/c of the 20" barrel but I just bought a No.1A in 270 (22" barrel) cuz it's just about 'perfect'. 
Not a lot of difference there to worry about..... Still, I tend to follow my bias so if I got an RSI it would be 30/06 or 7x57.

doesn't really matter if the bullet is going 2950 fps or 3050 fps, it'll shoot flat and kill deer out to further than you can hit one from a field position. A 22" 270 can push 3100 with a 130 given a number of proper powders, so a 20" RSI should be able to do 3 grand and change.
