So way back when, I bought my first handgun, a Ruger P85 stainless. It was and continues to be a bit of a tank. Over the years I acquired 10 - 15 rd mags which I have pinned to 10. Fast forward recently purchased a Ruger PC Carbine. As modern Ruger mags are up there in price, I did what most guys do and installed the Glock mag well and picked up a couple of Glock Pmags. But then I got to wondering if the P85 mags would fit the Ruger mag well. They do fit, but the mag catch cut out is in a different spot. So I placed a bit of masking tape on the back of the mag, put it in the mag well the mag catch left a mark on the tape. An 1/8 inch drill bit a needle file and a little bit of time and lo and behold was able to get the P85 mag to work in the PC carbine. Mag inserts easy, drops free. I cycled 10 dummy rounds through it no issues. A trip to the range today verified the the mag functions like it should. The only issue I have encountered is that the bolt will not hold open for the last round. I can live with that
