Hi guys,

Just bought my first semi automatic. woo!

I got a ruger pc9 6 position, im a bigger guy and was told i want a more "low" riding red dot so dont have to look too high through the sight. Any recommendations? budget is 2-33$ range.

Also, any suggestions for a foregrip? should i go with what i feel comfortable with? or is there a big difference/advantage to angled or veritcal grip?

Congrats! Nice first one!
Trs-25 works very well, though you can spend more, if you like. There are a few smaller profile ones in your price range as well.
The foregrip is up to you and your grip. Stubbies are my choice, though i do not really mind an afg.
Keep in mind how you will store and transport it with both of your options. Some accessories fit better than others.

Magpul AFG-2 doesn't fit the Ruger M-Lok forend.

I'd like to find Midwest Industries:

MI-PC9QDSP
MI QD Spacer Plate

Found it! ar CSC

the Vortex Crossfire II is only $10 more than the TRS-25

Lifetime warrantee!

I went with the Crossfire 2 on my Ruger PCC9 and am quite happy with it. I recently got a small pic rail that mounts on the barrel rather than receiver but I haven't had chance to get to range to re-zero yet. I don't know how much difference it'll make in practice but my mind tells me it will hold zero better than the receiver mount.

Plus 1 for the Vortex Crossfire II. It also comes with a low and high mount. For the price, they are one of the best RDS hands down.
As for the fore grip, check out the BCM Short VFG mod3. I have a few of them and they are the perfect size.

My PC9 with TRS-25 high mount, Magpul CTR stock, Magpul MBUS and Magpul stubby VFG. If you want your BUIS to co-witness with the optic you will have to use the high mount. I'm 6'1" and find the TRS sits about right for me.

If you never use the takedown feature does it still make a difference to the poi if you have the red dot mounted on the receiver instead of the barrel?

If you never use the takedown feature and the adjustment nut is set correctly I wouldn't bet on there being much shift.

That being said, I'm about to switch mine to barrel mount, got the rail all ready for it but not moving it until the range is open again to re-zero it.

The 6 position stock is better suited to a high mount. The “regular “ rifle stock is better with a low mount.

Mounting the optic to the barrel rather than the receiver should retain zero better in theory. But to be honest it really doesn’t matter.

Completely agree. As long as you mount the dot secure it will hold zero. 9mm isn't that violent of a round to cause enough recoil trauma to make the dot loose zero. Mount the dot where it best suits your need for picking it up quickly (closer to your face) or mounting it out on the barrel out there for better field of view and don't worry about it
