As always if there is a way to mess up seemingly easy instructions, I am able to do it.

I was able to swap out the magwell from the default SR9 one to the Glock magwell based on the written instructions. I didn't take out the bottom screw, the bolt was open during the operation. The top receiver back screw was removed and the grip just dropped out.

Removing the two halves was not as easy as the manual made it sound. The front came up and loose but the back was stuck. At one point I just held the top and shook it a bit and then the bottom came out and fell on the floor.

Magwell change was easy. Handguard/barrel was reattached and both screws tightened (I have no idea what 65 lbs of tightening is so I just tightened it as normal.

I tried to then insert a Glock 17 mag (original Glock 17/34 G5), brand new from package. It inserts and fits and clicks into place. But then when I unlocked the bolt and rode it forward, it appears to hit the top of the mag or something is catching).

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks for any assistance.

EDIT: I decided to put the original magwell back in. Inserted empty original SR9 magazine. Same thing. Bolt seems to catch on the top of the magazine and won't go forward. Once I eject the magazine, bolt moves forward fine.

On an empty magazine the bolt will never go forward because like for any pistol the bolt stays open after last shot. It seems to me that there is no problem.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like I asked a stupid question, but I have two other PCCs, and neither one does that (Keltech Sub 2000 and TNW ASR) so that is my frame of reference.

It's too bad this wasn't delivered last week, as I took my kids shooting twice on the long weekend and this new Ruger would have been great to try out (and likely I would have discovered what you all are referring to, since I would have used loaded mags and would not have experienced this problem.

Thanks for the input. Good to know.

Gathering from your lastest threads and posts it seems to me you are fighting a great deal of technical problems & user errors with your firearms?

Don't let any negative comments bother you. Guns have a myriad of idiosyncrasies and no one knows them all. People who make snotty comments seem to forget that at one time they were new to the sport and i can guarantee you they couldn't figure out simple manipulations on certain guns either.

You asked a legitimate question, got the answer, now you're a little more educated on the topic. Time to move on.

A classy response, Ted. Good on you...us. :)

No silly question ( well all most) Silly answers.. If you had some snap caps, than you can play at home and check.
You can also install your mag, push the follower down about a 1/4 inch with a small tool and see if the bolt will close.

Dumb stuff happens. I have been collecting milsurps for a long time. Having taken several Mausers apart for a good cleaning over the years, you would think I could remember how to drop the floor plate on one? I was at the Brooks gun show last year, and a fellow was really interested in a nice sporter I had. He definitely wanted one that did not have a detachable magazine. He wanted to see just how this one worked. I struggled with it for a while, and finally he said he would come back after a while. Finally I took the rifle over to Bruce the parts guy. Nothing to it. Push the pin down, push the floor plate back a bit, presto! The guy never did come back.

Yes, thanks...this is what I ended up doing - bought snap caps and manually cycled the snap caps and indeed that was the issue. I had no idea. But now I know.

Appreciate the helpful responses to the question.
