Ruger precision gen 3, 6.5cm scope recommendations?

There is also that Primary Arms 6.5CM specific 3-18X50 scope, probably runs around the $700-800 mark. They havent been around long but seem to get good reviews. I like the range and size for an optic, though it would be more of a hunting range (for the caliber) and less of a long range for the magnification range.

Been around long enough to see NF as a brand new company. Very good products and have grown alot. But times and tech keep marching on and rarely does any brand have all the answers. Athlon is a fairly new company that has raised the bar on cost vs performance (yes, I am a dealer but a competitor first).

Their new erector system is fantastic and I have personally tested 6 (and counting) on my rifles shooting to very far distances/travel and in competition. Compete in LR rimfire PRS which is brutal for the amount of travel needed and how well a track needs to repeat and return to zero. The results speak for themself.

And in the F class world, we have a very high standard for what precise adjustments in a scope are.

The cost of really good optics is plummeting and a fraction of what it was 5yrs ago.

So what should an optic actually do? Let you view and aim on your target, adjust precisely and repeatably so the change in POA accounts for the conditions you face, hold zero and return to zero consistently and precisely. Allow you to extract all the performance from you rifle.

accuracy of a rifle is tied to how well the scope operates. A scope that has a wandering zero makes the rifle shoot far worst then it is capable of. A scope that doesn't give the same elevation or windage change, makes hitting consistently nearly impossible. Do a tall target and severe box test.... see what the target shooters have found about shifting POA in some very expensive optics

The RPR is a decent rifle with sub MOA capabilities.... utilizing this performance requires a scope that doesn't increase this cone of fire due to its mechanical and optical flaws.

And a sub MOA rifle at 1000yds is quite an impressive performer.

Sometimes the lack of accuracy in a rifle, may not be a rifle problem ...... YMMV

Yes I have seen boxes of expensive factory ammo go to waste from a bad scope. It also plays havoc on load development wasting components and barrel life and time. 15 years ago I would have thought $500 got you a good scope, i was wrong, now its $1000-1700.
Going form a scope that just has to hold zero, to a scope you can zero stop and click at will all day long.

I must’ve got lucky with my RPR. I’ve developed 2 loads that it will shoot consistently into 1/2 moa out to 1000 yards.

I put a NF NXS 5-25 on mine. The way I figure it, rifles will come and go but I’ll likely just keep moving all of my upper end scopes to the new rifles for many years to come.

I am intrigued by the Athlon line, and I would take Jerry at his word on the quality of the products he sells, he’s a well trusted dealer and has never let me down.

I have a Vortex PST GEN II 5-25x50 FFP EBR-7C Illuminated Reticle, MOA
That I’m looking to sell if you’re interested.

I have had a lot of vortex over the years and unless you are getting the razor I would go for the athlon. The ares ett has good glass, illumination, great reticle and decent price. Can't compare the gen 2 pst but experience with night force is unless it's the atacr it's nothing special.

Nothing wrong with an RPR. They're reliable, inexpensive and basically Lego. The actions aren't super smooth, but unless you're competing who cares? A good aftermarket barrel will make them shoot with the customs. Put a $750 Krieger prefit from Hirsch on one and go hurt feelings at the range.

Put whatever glass you want on it, it's a rifle you can learn and grow with. Glass can always be swapped to something higher end down the road.

The gen 2 PST 5-25 is decent for the price, but I find the eyebox tight at higher mag. Turrets are decent, the glass is pretty clear until the magnification is cranked, and mine tracks perfectly. You take your chances on lower level Vortex. The ones I've had hold zero but they're on hunting rifles that are never dialed up and down. I have no experience with Athlon, but they seem to get good reviews.
If you can still find them, the Nikon blacks got good reviews for glass and tracking.

Delta has been picked by amongst arguably two of the smartest FClass shooters anywhere, both engineers, one with a PhD and the other a noted designer. Of course other capable shooters in .22, BR and PRS use Delta scopes.

All evaluations in many counties have been more than positive for Delta Stryker scopes.
