Looking for input on what glass to mount on my 6.5 creedmoor RPR. budget set at around 2k however if the next step optic above that price range is substantially worth getting post it here or let me know ! This is solely my target rifle. Looked at vortex pst. Heard great things about night force and luepold. Need a ffp scope in moa clicks. 1/4 or 1/2 preferably.

New shooter compared to many who are members of this website looking for guidance and information. Thank you !

I agree on the Sightron. I like my 8-32X56 SIII. This would keep you well under your 2K budget. Personally I like my NF 8-32X56 better than the Sightron; but its was over two times as expensive as the Sightron. If you are patient and look in the classifieds on here often you should find a nice scope. Nightforce prices seem to have gone up in the past year. But there are still some decent deals.

My first thought was for you to try and find a NF NXS 8-32 on the EE. Another nice one might be the Bushnell 4.5-30 XRS (and it's FFP).

Why do you say you need FFP?? Only reason I ask is that this time 3-4 years ago I thought FFP was ALWAYS better, it's not. It's gonna mess with your cost:value ratio a lot.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the PST. A few on here hate them, but they are very good value. Seems the general concensus is that going to NF brings you somewhat brighter glass, which is likely that most impt feature at that range and beyond.

I completly agree no need to waste funds on FFP if your at the range you will know the distance and not use the reticle to range distance, as for chose Nightforce buy once cry once you will not regret it in the long run use one once and you will know why people buy them. Good luck in your decision making process remember with ocd gunnuters you will be changing it out with in no time!

It's true.

Saving 500-1000 by going with a PST now will almost certainly result in a loss on the PST when your curiosity gets the best of you and you then buy a NF....!!!

At the last match (saturday past) a shooter lost a lot of points as he forgot to turn the power all the way up, as a result his holdovers were wrong. The distances were known but you were not allowed to touch the knobs.

Let your style of shooting determine what you need. I personally like the bushnell dmr/ers scopes. There is a V2 coming out soon so maybe you could pick out an older one for cheap.

Oh me too!!! Don't feel bad.....

I have every level of scope quality and price downstairs, from NCStar to S&B.....all I'm missing is a TT, and that ain't happening!!!

Bad part is then a guy starts to buy guns to put them on, then those get upgraded and a endless cycle begins LOL, already have plans for my 6-24 PST that I was going to or should sell.

If I could start from scratch knowing what i know now, I'd would've done a DTA SRS for sure. One amazing scope, that i know inside and out, backwards and forwards, on a 6.5, .308, and .338.....and I'd have a helluva lot more space in my gun room!!!

Alright thanks for all of your input. Based on the recommendations I believe I will start looking at night force scopes. Not completely taken off of the pst but like you all say. Superior glass on NF compared. And my ffp over sfp is much like a lot of you. Personal preference. I got a second fp scope on my 243 and on low magnification it's messed trying to hit beer bottle caps from 100 yards. I'd much rather have a consistently sized reticle. Not for hold overs as much as clarity and consistency. That topic of ffp vs sfp is another thread all together.
Which night force scopes do you all fancy for target shooting out to 1000 yards?
If you feel like. Post some pics of them along with the rings you chose. You'd be helping me out a bunch.
Thanks again

I just picked up a nf 4-14x50 shv f1. I would go with ffp as you don't have to think about anything no mater what power it is on if you need to hold 5 moa you hold that on 4 power or 14 power. I also have a viper hs/lr and like the nf a lot better.

Nightforce ATACR 5-25x56 F1 mounted on Nightforce 1.5" six screw rings, previous to this I had a PST FFP on it, while this scope is a obvious difference looking through it, the PST was alright and worked more than fine for what price point it was, but this NF is way brighter and clearer, and it should be at almost 3x the price.

This thing is a beast and so far I'm very happy with it, only nod I'll give to my Vortex PST's over this is their illumination adjusts way brighter, but that being said how often does one use it.

Very nice gun Mr Sharp. That's the exact setup I want on my RPR Except I won't be doing a stainless barrel ( yet) or the different bolt knob. Very nice !

I've got the same as HometownHero. Thru a NF SHV 4-14 F1 FFP scope with the Mil-R reticle. $1700. Glass is on par with the $1000 more NXS line. Only down side is no Zerostop. Has a zero set instead.

FFP is pretty much necessary if you are shooting PRS matches. I run sfp and for some targets I'd rather just use my holdovers at less than max power. Can't do that, without some calculus with sfp

My Bushnell 4-12x44 with Mildots works well for me. FFP purchased on sale from Wholesale sports for $650. Just took it out to 1000m yesterday in Edson in poor weather. No issues.
