Ruger Precision Rifle... So what's the big deal anyway?

Yup your #1 on my call list when funds allow...

Is the 6.5 Heathen actually bored for the 6.5 or is it a generic .30ish cal hole? And if it is smaller than .30cal is it possible to ream it out somewhat easily if/when I change caliber? I have access to a lathe and a very talented machinist.

they are caliber specific
yes, you can open the brake up if desired

I love my RPR in 308. I'm one of those with no exepectations, so Ruger has delivered on everything for me.

I agree about the clips. I was only getting 9 in each on mine, but it might have been because I'm using surplus Norinco.

I do find that the bolt felt sticky, I suspect the Norinco again though.

Grabbed my die's yesterday... Slim pikkins fer 6.5 bullets tho... I figger the SST should tell me what I need to know, shooting roughly 1MOA to 600 with the 140 ELD-M and 120 Amax factory fodder... See if I can knock that down a little.

Has anyone had any great success with reloading for their RPR in .308? I did up a few rounds last week and started to get some tight-ish groups around 45.6 gr N150, went back home and tried to tweak them a bit and they were all over the place which bothers me to no end.

Running N150 at 45.6 gr in virgin Lapua brass with CCI primers behind 165 SST Hornday was giving me about 1 3/4 group at 200 meters 5 shots, when i tried tweaking them from 45.2 up to 46.4 (over i know) in .2 gr increments they were all over the place.
