Ruger Precision Rimfire in .17 HMR

I cant decide if I hate it or love it! Awesome though, I swear ruger is the #1 company for putting stuff out people ask for.

^Indeed, hat's off to them for that. Mossberg seems to do the exact opposite, turning out guns nobody is asking for. lol (ie, tactical lever guns with wonky AR-style collapsible shoulder stocks) As for the gun itself, I'll wait for the range reports. The RPRs in 22LR~reviews are hot and cold on the accuracy. I want one...but life is too short for guns that aren't that accurate. lol

Ya Ruger has been bringing out things that people want so i will ask them here to please make this in .17 WSM because I have a good .17 HMR and more .22's than I care to mention. I love my RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and can't find a .17 WSM that is reasonably priced that I like but do like the rimfire RPR and need an excuse to buy compliment my 6.5.

I ordered one last week, will probably be a while before I get it, but I don’t care, last year when they introduced it in 22lr I said to myself it would sure be great if it came out in 17 hmr. Ruger sure does know what people want!
On a side note it’s now also available in 22 wmr!

Where did you order it from?

Hi,I work in the firearms retail industry. I’ve been waiting for Ruger to make this gun since they released the 22 lr.
My advice would be to go to your favourite LOCAL firearms store and order one if you want one. I don’t expect to see it for quite some time but I know if I don’t order one I’ll never get it!
So to answer your question, I guess I’m ordering it from myself.

I love the look of these and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one in .22 lr. Cabela’s Regina finally had one in, this was back in Dec 2018. I was able to get there and hold it, But it disappointed me! Very light and seemed flimsy! Admittedly it had probly been handled by many, and the adjustable stock bolt was loose. I was able to tighten it and was better. Now onto the bolt. I Cycled the action and it felt gritty, more like chunky. I moved it at different speeds but didn’t cycle smoothly. Now in All fairness, all my .22’s, that I own, have wooden stocks so handling this one kinda threw me, but at 6.7 lbs I thought it would feel heavier than it was. I understand that being new, the action would be tight and sticky and that with time would get smoother. But At $630.00 I was hoping for a greater first time experience. I’d Like to get back there and hold it again. Or hope to shoot one and hope my expectations of this rimfire can be satisfied to be standards that it should be from Ruger.
