Ruger Precision Rimfire - What Height Rings Do I Need??

I have the rifle but not the scope and want to pre-order rings. This so I can shoot out to 400m.

Ruger Precision Rimfire w/30moa rail
Bushnell Elite 3.5-21 x 50 with 34mm tube 32mil elevation adjustment.
Burris XTR Signature rings with cant inserts - 0,5,10 & 20 - do I get the 1" high or 1.5" high. I know 1.5" high is safe but can I get closer down on the rifle with 1". Can't seem to find anything on the "net" that will provide me with some clarity, and I don't want to order rings and have to send them back. Scope won't be here for couple of weeks and would like rings in hand to mount.

Anyone with same rifle and 34mm tube and 50 objective that can help?

I had that rifle before and mounted a 44mm scope on 1” height rings.
Your 50mm scope will clear on 1.25” rings

Keep in mind though this rifle has guard rail around the barrel, mine was very tight, I could not push a front lens cap on it. But 1.25” is high enough in my opinion. And 1” is not going to make it

What is the height of the MOA rail above the barrel shroud? I believe the shroud above the barrel is 8mm and the rail adds another 5mm for total height of 13mm, add the ring height of 1" minus the objective of 50/2 leaves 0.7mm clearance, which isn't enough. With the 1.5" rings I the clearance would be (13mm + (1.5x25.4) 38.1 minus the objective of 50/2 leaves 13.1mm clearance. Are my calculations correct without taking any cant into consideration on the rings?

With 34mm scope tube my only option is 1"h or 1.5"h.

34mm rings only come 1" or 1.5". Based on responses on other posts I'm thinking rings may have to be 1.5" tall.

Higher scope position means a more vertical head and neck position. As long as you can still get a good cheek weld due to an adjustable cheek rest, higher is usually better.

to be honest with you Burris XTR signature with cant inserts are the worst rings I have ever seen. The advertised cant degree is never accurate.
If I remember correctly the Ruger Precision Rimfire comes with 20MOA (or maybe 30MOA?) rail already. There is no point to have another canted ring pairs. For rimfire you don't need anything more than 20MOA.
There are plenty of other brands less expensive such as Weavers providing 34mm rings with 1.25" height.
I don't understand the hype for Burris rings at all.

I have to disagree.
Scope should be mounted as close as possible to the barrel. The lower the better.

I've always used Burris with inserts. Why? Because they don't mark up the scope tube. Otherwise you should lap the rings and I have done that. I'm shooting the .22LR out to 400m so I need cant on the rings to zero at 50 but reach out to 400. I have the XTR Signatures on 2 other rifles and they are awesome IMHO.

How close the scope's objective bell is to the barrel is always less important than shooter comfort. If a shooter must crane his neck to get a good view through the scope, it isn't conducive to consistently good outcomes, whether it's at 25 yards or out to 400.

A very low scope height can be like tight pants. Good looks may not be practical.

Don't just think 400 metres. Rimfire PRS targets can be as close as 25m, and the rifle is usable in most indoor ranges that are about that long. A scope that'll dial in that close can be helpful, and how far up the rings put it makes more of a difference in distance compensation as you get close in.

The precision shooting we are doing at our outdoor range can get down to targets at less that 50m, although everyone is using 50m as zero. With the 32mil range of the Bushnell I will definitely have enough up down to shoot close or reach out. And the RPR has adjustable comb so I can setup to a comfortable setting for me. But I do agree that too low down can cause neck strain, and tension is conducive to breath in, breath out, hold and shoot.

So what did you end up buying and how does it fit?
