Ruger precision upgrades and optics??

Recently bought a ruger precision in 308. Was wondering if anyone upgraded to carbon fibre handgaurds to reduce the weight? Probably going to be putting lot of miles on with it on my back. Any other things I should do before hunting?? Also need some advice on scope for 200 yard shots and 800. What kind NF Vortex?? Best place to buy scopes! Thanks in advance
 
It already has a very lightweight front handguard.

The buttstock is also very lightweight for what you get. A Magpul PRS buttstock will fit but is much heavier. I suppose MDT might have a lighter one with their skeleton line.

Most of the weight is in the barrel. I think to have any meaningful weight loss you'd need a thinner barrel, like a Proof carbon barrel.
