You are incorrect there.....look around the site and read up on the new 10 rd AR mags avail......

Since when are you allowed more than 5 rounds in ANY semi-automatic rifle (or shotgun) in canada?

Edit: I just did some looking. sounds cool. Now sombody just needs to start making 10 round "pistol" M1A mags!

Don't confuse hunting regulations with firearms regulations.;)

Didn't see the edit, oh well, maybe someone else will benefit from the advise.

I agree with potental issues in the hunting field. But the advantage of the ruger, is you can hunt and plink with it onday using standard stock and mags.
and then shoot in the match with it all tricked out in tac stock and 10rders
the next day. Before any one jumps in and starts giving to me about how we should be proud about walking the hunting fields with our tac/black guns.(I have no arguement there) I'm just playing devils advoacate to the who are not interested in the tac stuff just want it for plinking and varmint control.

Maybe someone can update me then on where it says you can use 10 round clips in centre fire semi's? If so, then why are/were 10 round AR mags required to be pinned to 5? I thought I was pretty clear on this one, someone please enlighten me!

There are new 10 round AR PISTOL mags available. The magazine is manufactured to be used in a PISTOL, so the limit is 10 rounds. They are clearly marked 10 round pistol mags.

They FIT in an AR, but were designed for a pistol, so you can use them. Similar to the CX4 Storm scenario earlier - the mags marked STORM were made for a RIFLE, so 5 round limit. However, since Beretta 92/96 mags also work (and are PISTOL mags), you can use them in the Storm and get 10 rounds.

Make sense? It shouldn't, but it's true.

I am familiar with the berreta fiasco, and understand that the CX4 mags themselves were made prohib. and you can legally possess 92/96 mags that hold 10 rounds, but if I remember correctly from many years ago when we were fighting the original c-68 and I was intimately familiar with the wording, it would be prohibited to have a centre fire rifle with a magazine "attached" capable of holding in excess of 5 rounds, ie. if you had a tube fed 223 (I know, I know, just humour me) it could not hold more than 5 rounds, same for shotgun if I remember correctly, no extended magazines on 1100's and such. In the case of the CX4, yes you can have 10 round mags, but legally once you put them into the gun you are technically breaking the law!?

Maybe we should move this discussion to the "legalese" forum.

Ian
