Looking back at their literature from the 90's they did make such a combination. Has anyone ever seen / owned one?

Any experiences / observations welcomed, I am keen on acquiring one, subject to comments.

I keep on looking at the US auctions, and the synthetics are quite rare, less than 1 in 30-40 sales. There are a few 20G's but none in synthetic.

Someone must be a Ruger expert?

The 12 guage I had (for a very short time) was of rather poor quality, fit and finish was not up to the same standards that their regular Red labels had at that time. When the action was closed, there was a very visible lip (1/16" step) from the barrel hinge area down to the frame, and had sharp edges. The stock seemed bulky, and there was a considerable gap from butt stock to frame on both sides, the forearm was tight against the barrels on the left, but had a 1/8' gap on the right side. The barrels also had a swirled unfinished look to them and the bore seemed dull, not up to the usual Ruger standards. It was one of the first ones into Canada and was quickly sent back to the distributor for full refund with no questions asked, definitely not one of Ruger's better ideas. Also it did not seem to last too long in the market place, whether it was a quality issue, or just that the public was not ready for a fully stainless, synthetic stocked over and under.

JamesM thanks for the pointer to the forum, very interesting.

It looks as if the stainless + synthetic was 12G only, so there goes that pipe dream!

Thanks to all that responded.
