Did the Red Label's all come in their own fitted case or only those of a certain grade? What did they usually come with in these cases?
Thanks, Ifly.

I sincerely doubt that a Red Label came in anything but a cardboard box from Ruger. If you have one in a fitted case, dollars to donuts, that someone bought the case and put the gun in it.

The new release of Red Labels all come with fitted cases like the 10/22 takedown according to a Gunblast.com review that I read.

I don't have a case with mine but I have seen two now with this case shown below.

They were introduced in 2000 as an option with a low glare scrolled receiver and gold game bird in the design.
Not the standard red ruger I was talking about nor the same quality as the vintage ones from what they say

I know a couple years after buying my 28ga red label , there was an option of sending it to a "custom shop " threw Ruger to have your gun reciever engraved and have a fitted case provided.
From what I remember when phoning Ruger about this is the Engraving was out sourced, so I took it the fitted case would be the same?
I have just took my Ruger RL 28ga out of its box after 15 years and finally used it for grouse hunting!
A great bush country grouse getter for sure, fastest shotgun I have ever used :)

Cheers Dale Z!

That is a Ducks Unlimited auction gun.Had one, sold it a few years ago

Early DU models have the DU crest on the receiver and the trigger guard stamped with the number of the run like one in 1000 on the 1984 version. Later are polished receiver with a big gold goose from what I have seen which this could be as you say if the pic is real bad . The version I mentioned earlier I think the bird would be a gold pheasant on 12ga. Both had that case or similiar

Johnn, do you know what years they made the RL with blued receivers?

No, :redface:sorry I don't. I have a nice little English SxS that was my mainstay for upland birds. However, an old friend and english gunsmith 'suggested' I get something to use on 'damp' days here on the wet coast. I spotted the Red Label in a shop that once was in business in Naniamo and thought that would fit the bill. Just checking the box it came in, I see the date 1980 written on the back.
