I recently tried to buy a new factory barrel for my 77/22 and sent emails to the Canadian factory rep in Que and to western gun parts.

I'm told that Ruger requires replacement barrels to be installed by them. I guess I can get one if I send my rifle to Que., but it seems like an unnecessary hassel. Western confirmed they can't supply them.

Anyone have the same experience when looking for a factory 10/22 barrel??

Unless this is a warranty situation where Ruger is paying for the new barrel, I don't understand why you would want a "factory barrel".

There are many reputable aftermarket barrels available at very reasonable prices. I have two Green Mountain barrels on my my Rugers. These perform far better than the originals ever did.

I've come up empty looking for an aftermarket SS sporter contour barrel for a 77/22 in canada . The 10/22 barrels are not interchangable with the 77/22.

I sure would be interested in an ER Shaw or a Green Mtn. barrel in the sporter contour, but I can't find a vendor. If you know where to buy one, please post where. I'm not interested in a short barrel. I tried one and don't like the rifle's balance with a short barrel. I'd prefer a 20 inch barrel.
