I have a couple of Ruger single shot rifles I have been thinking about parting with, and I was wondering what price range to expect to get for them. One is a No. 1S in 7mm Rem Mag with the BiCentennial markings (Made in the 200th year of American Liberty), nice burly wood, in almost brand new condition (probably 98%). The other is a No. 3 in .22 Hornet, pre 1976 (no BiCentennial markings, no "Read Owners Manual" markings), slightly burly wood in the butt stock, plastic butt plate, and also in almost brand new condition. Unfortunately, neither rifle has the original box. Thanks for the input.

Ruger single shots are pricey when you buy 'em and seem to hold most of their value if kept in nice condition. Original box & papers are always nice to have with them, too. :D

I just sold a #3 Hornet on this forum a few months back, it was about 95%, went for $500, a friend just bought a #1 in 7 Rem Mag at a gunshow last spring for $700, in real NICE shape.New #1's are about $940 to $970 plus tax at Wholesale Sports

Are you sure that the Hornet is a Pre '76?...mine was a 200th Year model and it had an aluminium butt plate...I just can't see the plastic one pre-dating the aluminium....

From what I understand, the "Read owners manual" warnings were started in 1977, and most of the 1976 production had the BiCentennial markings. This No. 3 has neither, but it certainly does have a plastic buttplate. I don't know what year Ruger switched from aluminum to plastic, but it came to me (used) with the plastic one.
