Bought a Ruger Single Six .22 today at lunch time, kind of rushed for time so didn't get all the particulars but it is in good overall condition except it needs a good cleaning. The stamp for caliber read .22 and thats it,no LR or short etc, the cylinder is long enough for .22LR.... does anyone know if this will take a .22LR which I am already using for a semi auto pistol. I don't get possession of it till Tuesday so I can't look at it right now for details. Thanks...................:D

If I remember correctly the cylinder will be marked .22 LR or .22 Mag They are most commonly .22 LR but you can swap cylinders and get one for .22 Mag as well. If you look you should be able to find the info on the gun.

the frame on mine says .22, the fluted cylinder is for .22LR, but is not marked with anything but the last 3 of the SN. the unfluted cylinder is for magnums, and is labeled as such, and also has the last 3 of the SN.

enjoy!

I just picked up one a short while ago. An older 'flat loading gate' model in mint condition.

Couldn't resist the opportunity:p.

Great little revolvers. I use mine to unwind after shootin the "9". I like to bust clay pigeons at 50 yds with mine. The .22 mag cylinder generally sits in the safe but would be great if we could hunt with them.

Can I determine what date the gun was made from the serial # as I would like to know a bit about it, any links to a gun dater type site????
The gun needs a good cleaning and I have some G96 brand gun oil which is supposed to have solvent in it..... I use it with my semi auto and it seems to work getting the soot out is this good enough for a revolver...thanks again for the feedback.........:D

No kidding. Very nice find!

How do you find it shoots?

As for the OP, another good purchase as well. The Single Six is a tank. A very fun tank.

It was an;) 'opportune' purchase. Not one I expected but one I couldn't turn down when it was offered. From the limited amount of shooting I've done with it so far, it seems to shoot not too bad. The trigger pull isn't as good as my Colt Diamondback or as 'clean and crisp' as an S&W but overall, it shoots not too bad.

you should be able to get the manufacture date out of the SN if you visit rugers website.

I went to the Ruger web site and found out my gun was made in 1971 and that model is discontinued.......when I get it I will clean it up and take some pictures.
