Actually as it stands now it's not a 12.6 because they won't be allowed to import any into Canada due to the barrel length.

cxone, find a rental range somewhere around where you live or join a local club which hosts handgun matches and show up with a few boxes of ammo. If a rental range then simply rent as many guns and then some as you can stand and actually try them out. If the local club chat up the guys and tell them that you're looking at buying a 9mm and that you really like the events they are holding. If you sound even half way interested and avoid coming across as a used car sales guy sort you'll get to try all the guns there.

Armed with this actual personal experience THEN decide on which guns you want. Because everyone knows that reading about them means absolutely zero compared to actually holding and shooting them.

The SR22 is prohibited due to barrel length. It has a 3.5" barrel, which isn't long enough (thanks to some stupid Liberals back in the 90's  ). To be imported into Canada now, a handgun must have a barrel longer than 105mm - roughly 4.25".

The SR9 IMO is a great handgun in 9mm. Easy to shoot, strip, maintain, and very reliable. I'm biased of course, since I have one in Olive Drab that Ruger doesn't make anymore.

Is there older versions than the ones currently being sold ? If so, what differences are there between models?

Ballox, stick to the newer versions of the SR9 and SR40, the easiest way to tell is the new version has a "D" shaped magazine release. Adding the Ghost Rocket trigger connector($25) and a lighter spring makes the trigger very nice, especially after 2-300 rounds. A very nice pistol for a reasonable price!

thanks for the info. I wanted to keep my hand guns close to the same. so i'll have to look for something else that i can get a (mm and a 22 cal in that are very similar :)
