Ruger Sr1911 CMD owners- a question

Hey there SR1911 CMD owners, I was wondering if the blued bits- the mag release, safeties etc, are carbon steel or stainless.

I believe they're all carbon steel. Get a magnet. If it won't stick it's stainless.

just took mine out and tested it for you, magnet sticks to everything except the trigger.
so that would make them all carbon steel i believe.

strange, magnet sticks to my stainless SAM 1911.

went and did some reading, most if not all stainless used on guns IS magnetic due to the make up of it.
so the magnet test will not help when talking guns...... from what im reading.

Some grades of stainless steel are magnetic.
I recall reading that stainless steel is a lot more difficult (ie: expensive ) to put a "blued" finish on.

The stainless steel used for guns is magnetic. At least all the ones I own are magnetic.

Yeah, too many magnetic stainless alloys out there for that to be a difinitve test.
