The front sight blade sheared off my wife's SR1911. I guess she snagged it once too often on shooting ports ....

Who will stock replacement front sights to match the dovetail?
 
You ought to go straight to the service centre for Ruger...sorry my brain farted and I forget.

I left my slide with wolverine and they could not find a blade to fit and so eventually got these guys to send them a replacement, after much arguing (service centre wanted the slide shipped to them).

The sight breaking is a known issue on these :(
 
Brownells has Novak dovetail front sights. They will likely arrive quicker than it would take for the Ruger warranty centre to do the job and the problem will be permanently fixed, rather than a replacement with another low-quality Ruger front sight that may break again.
 
I contacted Ruger and was referred to snapshots. Looks like that is my best option.

Good thing my wife has a back SR 1911 .....
 
The slide cut is NOT a true Novak so buying a replacement sight with hopes of simply sliding into place will soon be dashed.. The Novak sight must be fitted and frankly its better to send the slide to Locations Snapshot and get it done right. The turnaround time is quite fast. Rather than just having the stock sight replaced, look at the Ruger(made by Novak) fiber optic front sight. Far superior for target acquisitiion especially if your eyes are getting a bit tired. Probably a $50 or so difference

You don't want it to just slide in, it will just slide out again. I have a Fusion FO Novak cut on my SR1911, about 3 mins to fit, few strokes with a needle file, no big deal.
 
I saw this happen at a match, the front sight just snapped off in the middle of shooting a stage. What kind of crap is this?, I would say SR1911's are cheap but not great quality, I would take a Norinco over a SR1911 any day.
