Hello

First, No offense intended with title.I have NO experience with that rifle. I was just wondering for a semi automatic plinker 22 cal. rifle, why is it so costly, even here in the EE section? I`ve seen it`s prices and I`ve seen 223`s selling for less.

I know extras like scopes, sights etc are pricey But the plane version used, with basic parts from the factory, seems pricey to me.

Please can someone explain that?

Thanks for your time on this.

George

It cost more simply because it looks cool. It functions the exact same as a base model 10-22. Yeah it has a heavy barrel and It has rails to mount grips and stuff. I had one, along with 4 other 10-22’s. loved them all.

lots of metal involved.
first off its a plain 10/22 then they put the whole thing in a aluminum chassis then they add on a front handguard and of course a butt stock with bugger tube.
if you break it down its like:
$400 for the 10/22
$100 handguard/rail
$200 receiver chassis
$100 butt stock and tube.
$50 flip up open sites

just estimates of course.

i stayed away from them for a long while as i thought they where kinda gimmicky but then last winter i stumbled into the LGS and saw they had old stock on sale so they where like $300 less then everywhere else in Canada so i picked one up and was surprised to find that they are very solid.
i guess i had just always assumed they where gonna be made of plastic.

anyways they are a neat fun 10/22 variant.
they are rather heavy though.
rather front heavy once you get all the after market rails and such on.
and a real pain in the arse to take down to clean with the 4 tiny hex screws.

Tey are one of the few tacticool 22LR rifles that function well, too. My GSG 15 has been giving me fits, although it's really a magazine thing. I've got a dozen mags and most of them dont like to push the next round up to feed

It’s a great looking rifle, I should have bought one a few years ago when the price was decent. At today’s prices I’d rather just buy a DAR22.

I love my SR22.

The biggest differences like already mentioned is it mostly Aluminum. Not plastic like a lot of the other ones. Being mostly aluminum it also has some very nice machining done to it. Some do not apperciate the care and quality to make this gun and Some do. I do.

Whether this explains the cost they command or not, what I like about them over the other AR wannabe 10/22 setups out there, is the pistol grip, stock and forend are all replaceable and therefore customizable to your individual preference. I have mine set up with similar furniture as my AR and it very comfortable to shoot.

Full disclosure, i've got another one up for sale on the EE which I think I am asking a fair price for, but there are others out that are either way out in space in price, or so low I wonder how my ad will compete. So all that said, if you're in the market for one there are good deals to be had if you look around but also look at the upgraded ones and do the math to see what it would cost you to replicate.

Hello again
Thanks for the replies esp. wayupnorth, I especially like your picture of your SR22. I have a beginners Mossberg 715T, have Not had any issues with it yet! works/feeds without issues even with the fake large magazine combo.
Still would love to find a SR22 but at the current prices, I lean towards a 223

I bought one during the wholesale sports liquidation
They were just over $500 so I figured I'd get one as they are $850 ish everywhere else
Nice gun but only having a 10 round mag blows

They are a great little rifle, tons of fun, especially when you could use the larger mags . They do come up at fair prices sometimes, you just have to watch for them.

I been there done that. And got a Marlin 795 that ate all the different Ammo I fed it including large cavity hollow points and has not jammed yet in about 600 rds cost $210
