Curious to know how just how many piston rifles has failed so far for you guys to dislike them?
Its more like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, which creates its own set of unique problems.
Proprietary parts for one thing, which Ruger will not sell you to have spares on hand, have to send it in to them. And yes, the bolt carrier design already has changed since 2009 as it was creating excessive wear due to tilt. Will they even still be making these in 10 years? Who would want something you can't easily get parts for?
Piston going to be more reliable? Not likely in any real life scenario, plus more parts to break down and clean, and lose.....back to availability of parts again. And Ruger casts everything they can, which also weakens the design.
Piston will affect accuracy, how much....I dunno, but the DI is one of the reasons the ARF is so accurate. So again you are giving up accuracy for nothing.
Front heavy, can't change that, can't swap out parts or barrels down the road, not modular anymore, big drawback.
