My wife's SR9 arrived today. First impressions out of the box - Wow! She even got over the fact that it didn't have the bright finished slide she wanted.

We both like this gun! She's a southpaw and likes the ambi controls. First thing we did was reverse the arched backstrap for the flat option. It felt better to both of us, but I don't agree that if feels like a 1911 when so set up.

The Italian made mags are beautiful and the mag loader is going to be much appreciated. I had her load a mag without it and after the first finger nail became a casualty, the mag loader won instant approval. In fact, she adapted to it quicker than I did!

Range time tomorrow .....

We'll look into the maglula. What makes it so much better?

Pics? Check the Ruger site. It's like every other SR9 with black slide on a black frame. Looks 'mean' according to my wife. I'd use the term 'business like'.

"A striker blocker prevents the striker from hitting a primer until the trigger is pulled. The 'trigger safety' blocks trigger bar movement until the trigger is pulled. An internal trigger bar interlock prevents the trigger from releasing the striker until it is moved back by trigger movement"..... phew!

In addition, the gun has ambi thumb safeties! Talk about redundancy! It remains to be seen if she is going to be required to use the side safeties on the Black Badge course she's booked.

Maglula loaders make it SOOOOO much easier to load stiff springed magazines. Check youtube for vids on them. Worth every penny ( although I got mine with my M&P range kit :) My SR9 mags still have a very strong spring after 2 years and unknown amount of rounds through it.
