So I'm about to aquire my first pistol, getting a pretty fair deal on SR9 so I was curious if someone could point out any threads, reviews or personal experience on it as we all know how the search function on this site works.

Cheers

Try youtube or a google video search, must be a couple or so vids out there.
I like the SR9's , inexpensive and does the job just fine.
You can remove the magazine disconnect if you want to and just ignore or use the redundant thumb safety.
Mine has a very stout recoil spring but I hear later versions were easier to rack.
I don't have an issue but if your hands were weak or slippery it's not the easiest slide to pull back, and the large , smooth extractor going through the slide serrations doesn't help.
What problems do you have with the search functions of CGN?
Have you set the perameters?

I liked mine. Easy takedown as long as you remember to push down the ejector. Shoots well, and very reliable for the money. Solid pistol. Kinda looks a little weird. I sold mine but, for the reason to just try something else

my co worker picked one up when they first came up to Canada.
his wife made him sell it when he wanted to get another gun so i picked it off him for a steal.

i shot the snot out of it one summer and i had no problems at all with it.
its not as tight as a Glock or M&P but there is nothing wrong with it at all as the price point for it is a lot less than those 2.

when they first came out they where marketed towards people with smaller to medium hands, and my medium hands like the feel of it a lot.
my dad has large hands and he dosnt like it much.
i think there was some old thread here where i actually measured the thickness of the gun compared to a glock and M&P but that would have been years ago.

end of the day if your getting it for a good price and you like the feel of it jump on it, good solid guns.

I picked one up because my wife liked the way it fit her hands, plus it doesn't hurt you can pick them up very reasonably priced. I have only put a couple hundred rounds through it but zero issues

There has been countless threads about it on here. But to sum it up most like it, a few don't. For around $500 u r getting your money's worth. Love mine.

Good gun for the price. Very light (If I had to carry it every day in a holster the weight would feel negligible) and as the other poster said, good for medium to small hands. You can't 'crush' it like a Glock, I found, but then I'm not a fan of any plastic gun.

I hated the 'safety feature' of the magazine disconnect that doesn't allow you to dry fire unless you have a magazine in it. For competition like IPSC it is a pain to have to reinsert a blank magazine to show the chamber is clear as the final step before holstering. And for dry firing at home for practice having to put in a magazine, even one you are certain is empty, gives me the willies.

I never owned one but I've shot a couple of them. The grip size is a touch small so I think that they fit smaller hands well. But it isn't so small that large hands can't feel OK too.

Didn't like the "rubber band" like feel of the trigger pull. But I understand that parts can be had to upgrade that. But at least the stock trigger isn't overly heavy or have any bad stacking issues.

Accuracy was very good. As in the shooter's ability is going to be the limit and not the gun. I was a bit surprised when I tried out the first one as it shot very nicely for me and gave me a tighter group than most semi pistols.

I never went any further with it than trying it out because I'm just not a polymer gun fan. But for those who are I'd say it's a very worthy alternative to something like a Glock or M&P. I know the Glock and M&P folks because the Ruger is seen by a lot of folks as the underdog. But I found that it handles much the same and shoots well. In fact it took less work to get nice groups with the SR9 than with the M&P for myself.

12K+ rounds through mine of everything and anything including some hot rod factory and reloads. Never a problem with brand new 115gr and 124gr factory ammo of any brand. However it doesn't seem to like Federal AE 147gr TFP as I had a couple of failure to feeds with that stuff but only that stuff. I have had some FTEs with reloaded ammo, both commercial and my own.

The lower camblock pin broke at around 10K rds, the replacement part from Snapshots was $5 but it doesn't want to stay in now so a small piece of tape is holding it in. It hasn't affected the function and the accuracy is still better than me although I was hitting a 12"X12" gong at 50yds last time out.

I can literally field strip and reassemble mine in seconds with my eyes closed without tools and its rare that there is any malfunction that can't be solved by dropping the mag and racking it. The most common one being a FTE which I attribute to sketchy range brass reloads.

All in all I'm satisfied enough with the SR9 that I also bought an SR40 and SR45 to keep it company.

This is pretty close to the exact same scenario except its my brother in law that wants a wheel gun in 357 so the SR9 is on the chopping block. He wants 400 for pistol, 2 mags and a holster so I said, meh why not.

It's kind of funny because I'm in the process of renewing my RPAL and I had filled it out as wanting to acquire non restricted and restricted, the next question ask what you own and I answered the exact same, which was my error from trying to fill out the form to fast. I get a phone call the other day from a blocked number, polite lady on the phone ask if I owned any restricted because of my mistake on the application, as there's none registered to me, I laughed and said not yet, but soon enough.

My brother in law offered me the deal the day before lol

Anyway thanks for all the responses, pretty stoked to be getting my first restricted, and if its anything like rifles......I'm so screwed lol

Thinnest double stack polymer I can think of, rest of gun was alright in every way. Thin thickness of grip was the best point for me. For $400 used or so I'd say there's better options but it's a decent gun.

Great gun, good price, you can't go wrong. I've had mine 6 years, and wont be giving it up, as others have come and gone. Unless you're planning on using the SR9 in competition leave the magazine disconnect in, and don't ignore the safety's ... use'em.

I have several handguns so I can compare likes and dislikes open mindedly. The SR9 is a super buy ! The latest model has a very nice trigger, the grip is slim so it can fit a small to medium hand. The reversable backstrap doesn't look like much but it does make a big difference in your hand. The follow up shots are quick due to low muzzle rise. One of the best buys out there ! IMHO
