Does anyone know where to get a Ruger SR9 ?
I've ordered from 3 Traders now and they processed me as though they had one available and one week later ( in one case , two days and another in one hour ) informed me that they are backordered and will have to wait between 3 weeks and 6 months !!!!!!
I've had to cancel each order because of unknown delivery dates.
Why do they advertise them for sale and don't declare they are out of stock ?

Well - if anyone knows of their wearabouts - please let me know.

Thanks

UPDATE =

Thank you all for the info ....

except those gloating they just sold one or bought one - that's cruel !

Yes , I do keep a look out on EE .... but can't be looking 24/7 !

Have followed up on some advice - will keep you posted .

Thanks

I know there is one locked in my safe.....:p

I got mine at wholesale in Calgary awhile ago, they are back ordered now though. My buddy bought his on Tuesday at wolverine in red deer on tues, picked it up yesterday, I'm taking him to the range tomorrow :)

Ruger is backordered on many firearms, not just the SR9/SR40 series pistols. IIRC (and there is a thread on this somewhere - I'm too lazy to look it up - it is Sunday, after all :p) they aren't taking any new orders for firearms until the end of June so as to catch up with the orders they already have.

Such is the life my friend.
On a more serious note - if You after one of those models on EE, make sure that You are going to pick up the latest generation (No.3) of this model.
Easiest way to recognize that is by the magazine release button - the newer guns have "D" shape magazine release, while the older ones are more like the letter "O". Good luck!

Yeah I got mine gyp'd when they issued the recall the shop I had placed my order from refused to sell it to me. Bought a glock instead. Sold the glock and bought a M&P. Sold the M&P and went back to shooting my Sig...

Got this email from them back in March.

This is in reply to your email to us dated March 6, 2012.

We do have a large backlog on our SR9 pistols. We are hoping to start shipping these in 2-3 months.

Thank you for your interest in Ruger products.

Best Regards.

Did Ruger not issue a recall for those earlier ones?

Yes, that was with the so called generation one pistols - one piece trigger, without the blade (lever) inside the trigger.
Generation two pistols had two piece trigger with the oval magazine release and many people were complaining about the heavy trigger pull, so Ruger upgraded this design again.
Generation three includes a whole different trigger assembly taken from the compact model SR9C.
Those pistols have:
- slightly lighter trigger weight,
- shorter takeup,
- shorter reset.

Thanks for the tip. I tried a lot of gun shops already, all seem to be back-ordered.
I just e-mailed Wolverine in Red Deer. Hopefully they still have one in stock.

Is Ruger having production issues? The SR9 and the GP100 come around in tiny batches that are gone in a moment. I don't even want to think about the 1911 I have been waiting a year for...

One on the EE right now. Move quick.
Rugers production issues are that their guns are really popular right now and they're selling faster than they can be produced. They cant even meet US demand right now much less the rest of the world.
