Ruger super black hawk

Rock solid gun. Nice "fit and finish". Strong enough frame, to handle reasonably hot loads. My 3 are all consistantly accurate, with a broad range of cartridges. Decent trigger and very reasonable price, for what you're getting. I believe the "Hunter" has cut-outs on the top rib, to accept scope mounts, the regular Super Black Hawks, don't. Personal preference - I like the longer barrelled ones - 7.5" and up. Helps a bit with recoil and gives a longer sight radius. Check out the EE, they regularly come up on there.

Regaurding the super black hawk hunter in 44mag. How are they? Any owners on here care to share their thoughts?
I want a 44 mag just not sure which yet

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and haven't shot it yet. Not a fan of the grips, but it's just a bad ass gun built real well. Can't wait to take it out. BTW, I have shot a friend's before. Be prepared and hold it with two hands as it kicks like a mule if you don't .... Oh yeah, and watch your finger around the trigger guard!

Not a fan of the grips either. Trigger guard whacks my middle finger. Might not be so bad if you have smaller hands, or replace the grips with something else.

Yeah, they say it's all about how ya hold it but, I too don't have that small of hands and what I noticed when shooting the one my friend owns is it don't matter, after a few rounds you will slip up the grip and take it like a champ in the knuckle!
I'm looking at the Badger line of grips or even better KDS, but can't seem to find a Canadian dealer for either.

The Hunter model has a round trigger guard and more importantly a longer version of the Plow handle grip. You can also get the Bisely grip which many prefer.... I prefer the Plow handle.

Pinky wrapped under the bottom of the grip is the key to the classic shorter plow handle grip.

Had a 4 5/8 inch 44 Mag. never liked the grip as I have fairly large hands and it never felt like I could control it effectively. Had Pachmayr grips on it and after a few rounds my hands would be black from the rubber coming of. Hated that thing. Then again I've never been a fan of the six shooters.
