Hey guys, first I just wanna say thanks in advance because every time I have a question you guys always give me a lot of good sincere advice and I always appreciate that.
So here's the situation: I just picked up a Ruger Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. I haven't even popped her cherry yet (hoping to get to the range for an afternoon tomorrow). She's beautiful, but I can tell that I'm going to want to do a trigger job just from dry firing her (it's not as gritty as some people have suggested to expect, but she's sure no S&W). I have a fair amount of mechanical experience (I've rebuilt a small engine and maintain all my own vehicles) and I know a fair amount about precision work (I've used mills, lathes, and other common machine shop machines), so I'm by no means out of my league here, but I'm always particularly cautious when it comes to firearms. I want to replace the springs and do a trigger job on this gun.
Is there anyone out there that has advice on trigger springs, stoning, and working on this gun in particular? I've heard that Wolff springs make a great spring kit, so does anyone know of the best (read-easiest and quickest) way to get my hands on a kit? I'm in the Edmonton, Alberta area, by the way. Does anyone have any recommendations on what stone(s) to use and where to buy? And does anyone have any advice on the procedure (how to do it right and what to avoid)?
Thanks again guys.
