Ruger take down 10/22 question

I’ve never seen Ruger “part” the gun. I had to buy the “whole” and replace the front end. The only way I can see to do it any cheaper is to go via EE. Some people also sell the front end to cut their costs
The oem rear stock is easy to find for dirt cheap. You occasionally see a TD receiver for sale on the EE. I sold one last year. Your best bet is to buy a complete rifle and sell the parts you don't need. It is not very easy to buy an aftermarket forend - most will only sell your the entire stock.
I did get a forend with my Volquartsen barrel, but found it to be too heavy (I replaced it with the Magpul forend stolen from the Ruger barrel that I eventually sold).

I bought the Volquartsen front end ( see TomEGun photo,exact copy) and replaced the butt stock. The Ruger bolt and trigger was just a waste of ammo. VQ competition bolt and a Kidd 2 stage trigger, the gun is sweet and the weight ( not really noticeable)fits my shooting style. The Kidd was what I had in my parts drawer ,it was just for testing but it’s too good to remove. I’m hitting a loonie at 50 yards with mid price ammo with the odd flyer. If you do buy the VQ front end ,buy it with the cantalever mount,makes life so much simpler if you start changing things in the future

I purchased the VQ barrel from a US/Canadian importer - firearms dealer who's name cannot be typed into the CGN system for some reason. ########## Armory.
It is a very expensive barrel, and mine has not lived up to my expectations. It is a very nice, high quality, barrel, but the accuracy has only been so-so. I had hoped to complete the 1/2" Challenge, with the VQ. It still may be possible, if I buy some top tier ammo, but it is not going to be easy.
The short barrel is an Adaptive Tactical 9" "Charger" barrel. I believe I purchased mine from IRG. It has been excellent and the accuracy (with a scope) has out performed the VQ at least with mid grade ammo (ie: SK Rifle Match).

I’ve been trying to find an extractor upgrade kit for my 1022 stainless. Every site I went to. “Out of stock”.
When the Canadian vendors are out of stock, I usually try Brownells, Kinney's or Tandemkross in the US (all ship to Canada). Brownells has the VQ extractor & spring for $12.39 US (hint: buy at least $50 worth of items, to make the shipping cost worth while). I run the VQ extractor in all my 10/22s, except the ones with Kidd bolts. Both the Kidd and VQ extractors are a worthwhile upgrade.
I picked up my Kidd extractor and spring from Dlask. They're pretty quick at restocking and their phone customer service was great. I'd recommend just giving them a quick call to check on stock. As already said, never trust website stock status.
i was trying to fill a cart to get over $50 but i really only need the extractor. i am debating on an upgraded firing pin as well.

Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to just order a complete bolt from dlask? if i order a new extractor and upgraded firing pin, its $65 plus shipping, or their cnc bolt complete is $129, is the bolt upgrade worth the extra money?
The Dlask bolt is certainly much better quality than the Ruger bolt, but you will not notice any increase in accuracy in a Take Down 10/22. Reliability may be slightly improved due to the radiused and polished bolt. Since this is also a question about the Ruger 10/22 TD... it's not really a HighJack.
Before I purchasing a TakeDown. One more question please.
I have a few other .22lr's. Some are very accurate out 30m's...some are not, even with different types of ammo.
My question to those that already have the TakeDown. Would you consider this as accurate as say a Ruger 10/22 Carbine?

Thanks HuskyDude. Your question is a very good one....it is hard to know for sure, my educated guess is that there is little difference in accuracy between the average carbine and TD in 100% stock condition. However, I believe that, once you start to modify them the non-take-down has a distinct advantage.
Thanks for all the input gentlemen. I ended up buying the heavy barrel version of the take down rifle. I took it apart, did the bolt hold mod and cleaned/lubed the bolt etc., mounted the scope and will hopefully get it out ion the next few days to sight it in. I'm liking what I see so far. This one has the composite trigger group so I'm guessing it's the BX version? First one I've owned. Nikon EFR scope and Warne QD rings.
