so i was sitting in my shop and i had the bag with my Ruger 10/22 take down open and i was thinking to myself.....

i could buy one of those internally suppressed take down barrels and it would fit in this bag perfectly, there is even a slot open for it!
wouldn't that be nice.
being able to choose which front end you wanted to put on your gun.... the normal barrel or - wait - no i think ill run the internally suppressed one today.

*sigh*

Many of us share your dream...

That Ruger integrally suppressed barrel is rather strange looking, almost like an over & under shotgun. Do the extra baffles make it more efficient (quieter)?
If they were legal in Canada would there be an advantage to an integrally suppressed barrel over a regular scew on suppressor?

Hey W-U-N...thanks for today's reminder of how incredibly unfair/unreasonable our gun laws are here in Canada. lol Makes me wish a company LIKE Ruger would join the fight here in Canada. An accessory like this would even make ME to the unthinkable~buy a Ruger 10/22 TD. If we could have suppressors here, my own tiny collection of guns would start to change shape almost immediately.

However..until then...we'll live with laws based on poor information...Hollywood movies...what looks "scary" and what doesn't. You know...common sense stuff.

what the integrally suppressed does for you over the normal screw on is make your overall length a lot shorter.
with the screw on your gonna have your regular length legal barrel that is threaded and your gonna now add 6-8-12" suppressor onto it.
where the integrally suppressed one they add it onto the barrel (hense the strange looking 'over under' look) so you still end up with a 16" barrel overall)

Yes, but there is more than one way to achieve the desired length:

(fake Spikes Tactical suppressor shown in photo)
The Ruger ISB actually only has a 10.6" barrel the rest of the length is the suppressor inside a very nice one piece tube. This is of more advantage in the US where they have the SBR rules, but in Canada where we can own shorter barrels, the advantage is less clear to me. The advantage of the screw on suppressor being that one suppressor can be used on multiple rifles/pistols. While I think the integral suppressor looks really cool, if ever given the chance to legally own a suppressor I think I would opt for the screw on.
