Ruger tang safety stock into a MK2 stock

I did some searching to see if I could find a previous post on the topic but couldn't find it. Then I Googled it but my Google Fu is weak. Does anyone know if the original Ruger M77 tang safety rifles fit into the Ruger M77 MK2 stocks?

Not directly. You have to inlet for the tang safety. The MK11 has a flat bottomed receiver and the M77 has a step in the bottom of the receiver. It probably could be made to work as long as you get the proper receiver length stock and have patience and bedding compound.

Have you tried a WTB ad for a used take off stock for an original Ruger M77. They pop up from time to time, getting scarcer though. David.
