I'm I correct in assuming this is from a Vaquero revolver? Maybe a Blackhawk? I think the cylinders were interchangeable anyway but not 100% on that. I don't have any Vaqueros or Blackhawks anymore so can't compare in person. It's for sure a 9mm conversion cylinder as a 9mm drops in perfectly and there is a step in the chambers to hold it. 38 or 357 ammo won't fit. There is a stamped S on the rear and 946 on the front of the cylinder. Also-any idea of it's value?

Interesting. I wonder if they made .45 ACP cylinders for their other revolvers? It would be cheaper than .45 Colt.

Edit: they do!

Blackhawk. I have a 357 with a 9 cylinder. They are fit to the gun at the factory. Won’t fit my second Blackhawk. Too long but could be fitted. We tried others and one the cylinder was too short. Out of 8 revolvers tried it fit one. The cylinder will have to be fit to the gun. One thing I found out you can’t hot load the 9 in the Blackhawk. Cases stick.
Value probably $125 -$150.

The 946 scribed on the cylinder is probably the last three digits of the serial number of the revolver it was mated to. Ruger convertible revolvers are notorious for the Owner loosing their extra cylinder. Ruger doesn’t even supply a bag for the spare any longer.

like all the Cooey Model 39 rifles with missing bolts you see at gun auctions.

I never understood this phenomenon. I always assumed a netherworld chock full of bolts and 10 mm sockets.

I have 45 ACP cylinder that came with my Colt 45. It was a Lipsey's Special New Model Blackhawk. I've never fired it, but I still have it in the box and hopefully can avoid losing it.

Ruger has convertibles. 45 Colt/ACP and 38/357/9mm. I have one of the 45's, and a third cylinder for it in 45 Win Mag as well. It's a fun revolver, and way more accurate than it should be. - dan
