I am a Cowboy action shooter who usually shoots Gunfighter, I would like to replace the standard Vaquero Hammer for a Super BlackHawk hammer. I have already had the action smoothed and springs lightened. So my question is can I just swap out the Hammer or do I need to do the whole Kit again. I am no gunsmith but reasonably handy. If I can just swap the Hammer great if it needs more off to the Gunsmith.

I would suggest contacting Rusty Wood Trading Company in Mission. He is also a member here. He can advise, supplier and/or install. I have done it myself. The trigger feel is not quite the same as it was in the original arrangements with the original combination of parts but it did work. I know of one other person that did it on their own with the same results except now his loading gate locks up unless the hammer is pulled back just a thou or two.

The SBH hammer was a drop in fit for me.
