Jumped on the bandwagon yesterday and pre-ordered a Ruger PC 9 Carbine.

I see everyone's hype on its ability to take Glock mags. Now i dont have any Glock or SR9 mags myself so it sounds indifferent to me, but is there a reason to want to go with the Glock mags over the Ruger or the other way around?

Im gonna start buying mags for it anyway, and both seem to be roughly in the same price range and i don't wanna be switching magazine adapters.

Any help is appreciated

Glock arguably have the most reliable and durable magazines on the market. If you are not invested in Ruger yet, I recommend Glock mags, and you can get Magpul mags for a lower cost option.

People are stoked for glock mags because a lot of people have a bunch of them. Between the glocks being very popular pistols and the simple fact that many other pistol caliber carbines also take glock mags means there are a lot of glock mags in circulation.

For people who prefer nice handguns, how hard do you think it would be to make an adapter for Beretta mags?

I don't know what other people prefer, but my taste of "nice handguns" is a bit twisted than the majority of people, i like my Hi-Points ...

Glock mags. They are ubiquitous.
did a little search on Ruger vs Glock mags, think you're right.

and then this showed up on my FB feed from a local gun shop, i'll pick up a couple tomorrow:

You know what.......I ordered this from a site sponsor yesterday and was so pumped........later on in the evening I started watching videos of this firearm.......especially the hickock45 one.......and a few others.......it seems these rifles have a feeling issue with light loads and they recommend factory ammo.......I called the site sponsor this morning and cancelled.......not trying to spread any negativity as this looks like a sweet rifle......just seemed there are alot of feeding issues with reloads using either the glock or the sr9 mags

KCI mags can be sketchy. Factory Glock are the best. Some like straight 10, some prefer pinned 17s. I like pinned with +2 mag bases because I have the Carver mega mouth magwell and need the extra length. Magpul are highly regarded and I've heard positive reviews on ETS mags, but haven't tried them personally. They are clear, which is neat too :)

Stick with the SR9. I've read that the rifles come with a SR9 magazine and with most people preferring the Glock mags, I wouldn't be surprised to see a ton of SR9 magazines hitting the EE for cheap in the near future.

The magazine has no relevance to the feeding issues. Light reloads as you stated are the problem. Load them a little hotter.

I doubt SR9 mags will ever be as cheap as Magpul Glock mags($27-$29).

I dont personally reload for any caliber i shoot/own, so i don't really care about the light loads.
While lower mag price of the Glock (as stated) sounds appealling. Im not into owning 20 mags per gun so that won't bother me much (the most i have is 2-4 mags/gun some even just 1) but i care more about which mag (Ruger vs Glock) works better and less feeding issues

I bet it wouldnt be too difficult. I wonder if you'll be able to buy just the mag well adapter part, and try to modify it...

I'm thinking the SR9 mags would be the closer match to Beretta mags...

I'll keep an eye out at the range for someone with an SR-9, see if I can compare the mags for feed angle, width, etc. If they're close, I could probably get one of the SR-9 mag adapters for relatively cheap from someone who got the carbine, and swapped to the Glock mag adapter without plans of ever going back.

Good lord, man, you admit that in public ;)

Truth is, the best handgun is the one that fits your hand and you shoot well. For me, that happens to be the 92FS. If that happens to be a Hi-Point, stick with it, and tell the haters to get stuffed.

It's terribly fun to poke the bear with the Glock fans, though.

Glock mags have a very long running reputation for being reliable and durable.

MAC (military arms channel) does a good Video on it. Only tight fitting mags were ETS. He then used the same ammo in a different mag with zero issues. Otherwise it took any and all ammo. He does a complete strip down and mag well change too. It works like an overgrown 10/22, so nice and simple !

Im probably going to stick with OEM Ruger or Glock magazines, im not a big fan of aftermarket mags tbh.

Main reason i ordered the PC9 is i wanted a pistol caliber carbine (9mm or .40S&W) in the $1,000 range and i have a 10/22 Take-down that i love and this is pretty much the same thing in 9mm.

Im not a huge fan of the "tactical-style" pistol caliber carbines like the FX9, JR Carbine, TNW-Aero. Just need something that does the job and takedown feature and price of the PC9 is what sold me into it

as a fella who has both a SR9 and a couple Glocks there is one blaring difference between the mags that im suprised no one has mentioned yet.

the SR9 mags are 2/3rds metal and the glocks are all plastic.
some people are pro metal so if thats you then the SR9 mags may be the way to go.

myself personally i think they all run good.
but Glock mags do give you a lot more options in length and capacity (which are all pinned to 10) but, should the zombies come rivets have been know to fall out.....

Not true. Glock oem mags are full steel with a polymer over body. The Magpul Glock mgs are all polymer just like their pmags.
