Hi!

How many miss feeding i should expect with a rugger 10-22? A friend of me said 22 cal. often jam.... Is it true?

I think someting is wrong with my rugger 10-22. The gun often jam... one times on 30 rounds maybe...

I can't use Win 333 because the gun can't feed it at all... The bullet get pinch and deform by the sharp edge of the chamber...

Even when it feed correctly with an other round (CCL or any other company...), I can see a big scratch on the bullet. A chunk of metal have be remove...

Is it a normal behaviour? Il will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Thank you

My experience with a new 10-22 this summer was about three misfeeds in the first 200 rounds and since then none. I have three mags and try to use them all equally.
I could feel the action getting smoother even over that short period. I think it just wears off the high spots inside the receiver as the bolt cycles.

I've always told people my little trick that seems to solve most of the issues. Take some scotch brite or other abrasive scour type pad. Take your bolt out, and rub the inside of the receiver down. Rub it along all edges that the bolt slides against, and where the cartridges feed trajectory is. This will remove rough edges, machining marks, small amounts of pitting etc. Make sure you use a nice gun cleaner afterwards, then wipe it clean again, and oil sparingly.

This fixed all of the feeding issues I had experienced. I then purchased an "exact edge" extractor, and made the switch in the bolt from the old extractor.

If you still have problems it may be your magazine.

I just got back from the range with my brand new 10/22 with the factory mag and a butler creek steel lips mag. I had no problems at all and I shot 300 rounds. I used 2 types of federal ammo and CCI blazer 100 rounds of each.

That little Edge Extractor is truly worth its weight in gold...

I have an Edge extractor in mine and I'm still having problems with jams (stove-piping) the only thing I can think of next is to strip all the paint off the receiver and polish the aluminum. Any thoughts? Mine is the 10/22 target model.

I find the biggest contributor to 10/22's jamming is the ammo. Use quality ammo like cci or some federal (american eagle is good in all mine) and re-tension and clean magazines often. the exact edge extractor is also a good investment. Mine very rarely jams, Maybe once per 500 rounds which IMO is dam fine for a semi auto 22.

Mine only jams with shorts. When I first got it I was so disapointed as it stove piped every other round. Finally got that fixed and no problems since. I could shoot a 500 round clip with no problem.

I have tried about every type of ammo avail and I have put in an Edge Extractor. With CCI mini mags and American Eagle 38grHP's it only jams about once or twice a clip. Still unacceptable as I know of a 10/22 standard model that is about 15yrs old and has digested thousands upon thousands of rounds and has never been cleaned.

Try swapping out the extractor, hammer, sear, bolt, action, barrel and stock for a Marlin. That should fix all the common issues associated with 10/22's.
:nest:

Have you tried other ammo?
- Blazer is cheap, accurate, and seems to run in everything I've tried.

What mags are you using?
- If they aren't Butler Creek Steel Lips or factory 10 rounders theres your issue.

Have you cleaned and oiled the gun since buying it?
- A good clean and oil goes a long way especially in the first few hundred rounds.

ok... You talking about "VOLQUARTSEN exact edge extractor" or the "Titanium extractor" on hical.ca??? Are they the same??? If not what is the better extractor? Today I get many bad ejections. Maybe it will some that issue.

And what did you mean by re-tension the mag???

I have try 3 different ammo :

1- Win333 : Can't fire more than 4 rounds between jam. Mostly jam each times.

2- American Eagle : Better but missfeed 8 times on 50 rounds.

3- CCI standars velocity : The best but missfeed 3 or 4 times on 50 rounds

I shoot more than 400 rounds in total. The gun even jam when I #### the bolt... Something is wrong with the gun. At first I have use the original rotating mag. But now I have install the marauder kit on it and I use AA922 marauder mag. I'm not sure if there a difference. Both jam the gun but maybe the AA922 jam more.

The gun have been properly clean and lub...

The Volquartsen is made of A2 tool steel and is nearly twice as strong as even the best aerospace grade titanium. Oh and its $12 shipped from rimfiresports.

I don't know which is better, but I can swear by the Volquartsen which signficantly cut down the number of FTE's (fail to extract) that I was experiencing with my 10-22. I went from 1 FTE every 25 rounds to about 1 in 200.

I have tried dozens of different types of ammo

It doesn't seem to matter if I use factory ten rounders, steel lips or hot lips

I have cleaned the gun many times and lightly lubed with CLP (as per suggestion from the rimfirecentral guru's)

Maybe I should just get something different but I really wanna figure out the issue:)

Jamming with the factory ten rounders? seriously?
Take a video of you cycling the rifle, if you can. Might help.

Here are two picture of what I get... Even with the factory mag!

MissFeeding : The Bullet jam in the corner of my chamber

And

badEjection : In this one you can see metal shreed cumulating because of the first bug...

Sorry for the poor quality.
